Dishing for Hopkins at Columbia and Timonium Locations

Let’s Dish! encourages community to donate meals to Hopkins patients and their families beginning March 1

Baltimore, MD (Friday, February 29, 2008) — Let’s Dish! is teaming up with The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins to make it easier for patients and their families to have nutritious, home-cooked meals. Beginning March 1, customers at the Let’s Dish! locations in Columbia and Timonium will have the opportunity to prepare some of the company’s most popular meals which will then be donated to the families residing at the Hackerman-Patz and Joanne Rockwell Memorial Houses in Baltimore, MD.

The Hackerman-Patz and Joanne Rockwell Memorial Houses provide overnight accommodations and are “homes away from home” specifically built for those receiving medical treatment at The Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. Both Houses offer gracious and affordable hospitality in a home-like atmosphere, a welcoming option for those who must travel great distances to receive specialized care. Each year, this housing option serves over 650 families from across the country.

“In the Hackerman-Patz and Joanne Rockwell Memorial Houses we bring families together who are going through similar experiences so they can gain support from each other,” said Sarah Hoehlein, Director of the Residential Living Program at The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. “With the generous support we are receiving from Let’s Dish! and their customers, we can provide our families with healthy and convenient meals, allowing families to focus their time on what really matters—the well-being of their loved ones.”

Those interested in donating meals, each serving four to six people, may add them to their Let’s Dish! session for an additional $15.00 per meal. Meals that customers will be able to prepare in the month of March include: Asian Noodle Bowl, Basil Chicken with Lime, Chicken Mole Burritos, Greek Burgers with Onions and Feta, Oven-Roasted Veggie Pockets, Ravioli del Sol, Create-Your-Own Quesadillas, and Carrot Cakes. Let’s Dish! encourages anyone interested in donating meals to contact either its Columbia or Timonium location to determine the best time to come in and prepare the meals.

“It has always been a priority for us to give back to the community,” said Jeremy Kugel, marketing director for Let’s Dish!. “We hope that by providing healthy, homemade meals to the families at The Hackerman-Patz and Joanne Rockwell Memorial Houses, that they will have one less thing to worry about during their time at Hopkins.”
